Never forget that the purpose for which a we live is the improvement of ourselves, so that we may go out of this world having, in our great sphere or our small one, done some little good for our fellow creatures and labored a little to diminish the sin and sorrow that are in the world. -William E. Gladstone

Well, Georgia has started the run on voter suppression with its latest state legislation. It is doing everything in its power to prevent black vote even though the results after the last election revealed there was no proof of voter fraud. It won't be the last state to push for changes to voter laws in the hopes of maintaining Repugniqan superiority. It is the only way they can wins an election. PA is attempting to do the same as well as suppression of the governor's role by subverting his/her authority. Our legislature is Repugniqan and needs to go. They created chaos over the election results and the counties they represent have the highest number of people on unemployment, Medicaid, etc but scream bloody murder that the Democrats are ruining the economy. Shame that they expect the government to support them but they want less government interference in their lives. I just cannot wrap my head around their way of thinking try as I may.

Legislature here has been busy on voting, initiative petition, and undermining efforts to curb covid. Ironically they just took an emergency 2 week break because of covid in several members.
-
When I read stuff like that I just want to bang my head against a wall! We literally have idiots running our state governments.
Anyone want to Zoom tomorrow at 11:30 Central?
-
Hopefully all that is going on in GA and any trying to duplicate it will end up losers. They are being quite open about what they are up too and certainly it will set poorly. When we just went thru a fantastic election -- with so many people being able to vote -- trying to now DIMINISH that vote is foolhardy. Reps. did not have enough votes and they are going to take more away. Not all of the places will go as far as GA and give the legislature permission to nullify what and who people actually vote for.
In that way I think they are creating a situation where someone will have to do something heavy duty -- like Manchin, and perhaps pass the " For The People " act. It is sooo wrong and I think/hope the hue and cry is strong and that Kemp and those like him get shut down.

I hope this is true!

Hell, yes! Any business or organization that cares about all of their employees and customers should immediately boycott the states enacting Jim Crow laws. I'm looking at you, MLB, NFL, MLS, NBA, Coca Cola, and any other corporation with a presence in those states.
If they choose to bury their heads in the sand, then, we, the people, will boycott them. They can either willingly do the right thing, or be forced to do the right thing. Their choice.

Me too, Ruth. Me too.
-
I'm game, if I manage to get up in time to get the link.
-
That would fantastic Ruth. It feels like a very unattainable goal right now though.
-
I am on my way to an exercise class but will set up a Zoom and post the link when I get home.

I'm in on the boycott and have great hope it will take place. If GA were to get away with this it certainly would signal all the others who have enough Reps. in place starting with Governors. The Reps. don't seem to understand that way more people DON'T want a good deal of what Reps. have to offer because it is selfish and power hungry and not much else. Then again, they have been seeking the same thing for a long time and Trump gave them a great opening. I think this is now or never and we certainly have to see that it is never. They do not want to 'give' up and go back to being reasonable and having to work towards their programs. Seemed to have forgotten the old adage ' may the best man win '. I'm thrilled I'm a Democrat because I'd hate to be looked at with the scorn I've been looking at Reps. with. How depraved so you have to be to have such low standards with your villainous heart and to think people will just roll over for you.

Republican voting fraud, I might add.

(Thoughts and prayers.......😜)
New York (CNN Business)Virtuoso, a global travel agency consortium, has dropped all Trump Hotels from its exclusive listings.
"Trump Hotels are no longer part of the Virtuoso network," the company said.
The luxury travel agency declined to elaborate on why it made the decision, saying they "consider many variables when reviewing both existing and new network participation. Out of respect for all involved parties, and as a general policy, we do not share comments regarding our non-renewal and exit decisions."
Virtuoso operates a network of more than 1,100 travel agencies and roughly 22,000 travel advisers in 50 countries. The travel agency enjoys preferred relationships with a number of "hotels and resorts, cruise lines, airlines, tour companies and premier destinations." Advisers usually work with high-end clients to provide them with "unique experiences, special values, complimentary perks, VIP treatment and rare access."
This comes as Donald Trump's businesses have taken a hit in the past year. Even before Trump left office and his role in the US Capitol insurrection brought further complications to his businesses, the pandemic was putting considerable strain on Trump Organization properties worldwide.

These are some of the most tiresome people in the world. Even though I worry about language I have to say, not only tiresome but some of the biggest pansy-asses in the world as well. Proving something before you are asked types, who seem horribly insecure. System alert: If you are trying to send me a macho message , it failed !!
-
I have seen this before and it just screams out as a definition for so many of the Reps. in government today:

-
I'm sure I've a whole lot of company on this one.

Another jewel from brain-trust Boebert.
