As a teacher, I love this one. Maybe they'll remember what it feels like when sensible gun control measures come through their House.

If the protesters had been black; if protesters had been protesting climate change and lack of any efforts to do something; if protesters had been women demanding control over their bodies........ you know they would have been dealt with harshly, met with tear gas, and with violence. This morning there was an excellent interview with Eddie Glaude Princeton Univ discussing the treatment of right wing protestors vs left wing. The left is perceived as a threat, and the right as patriotic. I'm glad that they were not met with violence, but I do think they should be held accountable, and prosecuted. Trump, as their ring leader should be impeached. One person told me that impeachent was better than invoking the 25th amendment, because if impeached, he would not be allowed to run for president again.
-
I just want him gone. I don't care how.
-
I want him gone for good, so if impeachment is the way to go, have at it. Wouldn't it be great if Pence resigned so could not pardon Trump? Pelosie would be next in line................

There won't be a million, but they'll be armed. Flight crews should notify the FBI if they suspect passengers plan to attend. There were reports of problematic passengers before Jan 6.

omg. Not surprised but wow.

Whatโs so frustrating at this point is that nothing is really being done to remove Trump from office. Pelosi and Schumer had a call in to Pence yesterday about invoking the 25th and Pence never took the call. Lindsay Graham says โIf Trump tries one more thing, then Iโll be on board with getting rid of him.โ The Dems are lining up impeachment procedures, but nothing will begin with that until Monday. The Wall Street Journal is calling for Trump to resign. Big woop. Heโs never going to do that until maybe January 19. Republican Senators are โsorryโ for enabling Trump, but none seem to be actively working to oust him.
Trump makes Nixon look like a choir boy.
What we saw at the Capitol two days ago was unchecked, massive white entitlement. Thereโs a video of rioters exiting the Capitol, strolling out like theyโre leaving Walmart. It is astounding that people died and extensive damage was done to the Capitol, yet the actions of these domestic terrorists have been normalized by the current political climate of our country.

As much as I have disliked Pence, and all the enablers, I am glad when (for whatever reason) he & others do the right thing. Anytime an elected official fulfills his/her oath to protect & defend the Constitution, I am happy (very relieved, in this case). Although many of people jumping are rats fleeing the sinking ship, I think being barracked in a locked room while fearing for your very life might be a 'come to Jesus' moment for others.
Yesterday, Amy Klobuchar was on The View and said that when the Senators were all locked in the same room, she insisted the TV be turned on. Not only so they could know what was going on, but so her Republican colleagues could see what their words & actions had led to. When Biden made his speech, everyone in the room, Democrats & Republicans alike, burst into spontaneous applause. That gave her reason to hope.
-
I know most of the Republican Senate and House are glad to be getting rid of Trump, but the problem is they only allude to that in private. As individuals, they want to remain in power so their public stance is to support Trump. They refuse to incur the wrath of both Trump and his fan base. They want re-elected
Once Trump is gone, there will be some bipartisanship going on to some degree. But omg, we still have 12 days of Trump in office and danger lurks around every corner.
-
The other sad truth is that the events on Tuesday put Trump front and center in the news once again. He wearied of the coronavirus last summer, has no interest in helping us out of the pandemic, is bored with vaccine news, so heโs happy the domestic terrorists have allowed him to rise to the top of the headlines once again.
-
And now a Capitol police officer has died. So much for the 'law and order', 'Blue lives matter' rhetoric.

Betrayal, I have the first coat of paint up in the bathroom. It's a good thing I do yoga so I can twist myself into a pretzel to paint behind the toilet, and do balance exercises so I can stand with one leg on the ladder and one in the sink when painting behind the vanity!

video please??๐๐๐

This is a good point. It would also mean that 45 couldn't finish a complete term. ๐

I would LOVE to have Mike Pence as president as long as it wasn't for more than 2-4 days! It would be a wonderful civics lesson.

It sounds good in theory, but American history can and is easily distorted for political measures.
Case in point:
Have you heard of newly inaugurated Downstate Illinois Congresswoman Mary Miller? She has apologized for using a Hitler reference in a speech. The speech was given to "Moms of America", a conservative group whose mission is to "raise a new generation of patriots through the mothers of America". This is what Miller said:
"Each generation has the responsibility to teach and train the next generation. You know, if we win a few elections, we're still going to be losing unless we win the hearts and minds of our children. This is the battle. Hitler was right on one thing. He said, whoever has the youth has the future."
Still, she blames others for twisting her words:
"Facing increasing calls for her resignation after citing Adolf Hitler in a recent speech, Congresswoman Mary Miller apologized Friday and said she regretted using the reference while blaming others for "intentionally trying to twist my words."
Miller, only days into office, received condemnation from Republicans and Democrats alike as well as Jewish anti-defamation groups for referencing the Nazi master of the Holocaust in a Tuesday speech to Moms for America, a conservative group that says its mission is to "raise a new generation of patriots" through "the mothers of America."
Miller, a Republican who was born and raised in suburban Naperville but lives in Oakland and represents deep southwestern Illinois, referred to the need for conservatives to teach their beliefs to younger voters who have trended more Democratic in recent years.
There is a fight for the souls of the youth of our nation.

And the honest-to-God truth is what Trump said in 2016:
"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and wouldn't lose any voters, okay?" Trump said, mimicking firing a gun with his fingers. "It's, like, incredible."
Not only that, his cult followers would blame Biden, antifa or even their liberal grandmother before they would ever let Trump take the fall for his own actions.
