Hi all, I haven't been on for a while but I am coming up on my 6 years diagnosis and 5 years of OS. My doctor said that I will be done with zoladex and aromasin in August. He said 5 years is the protocol and that i have done really well on the medication and respond very well to chemo. I am very much looking forward to going off the medication because I hate the side effects BUT, I am terrified that I am not going to be protected anymore. I had a hard time after I finished active treatment and am afraid that I will fall back into that fear and anxiety again.

My question is, what would you do? Would you ask to stay on longer? Would you ask to try tamoxifin?

Thank you

    Hi!

I finished five years of OS (Zoladex) + AI (Aromasin) in February, but I'm on the seven years plan for now. My side effects have included osteoporosis (treated with Prolia, now osteopenic), crazy mood swings (treated with Celexa), and hot flashes (which are rare now). I was 95% ER, but my oncologist believes my cancer was primarily driven by an over expression of the HER2 protein. In any case, we are hoping for more study results before we ditch OS + AI for good. If my side effects were worse, I might have insisted on stopping at five years.
