Help TNBC sisters, recurrence !
Hi Ladies, I had TNBC Stage 1 in 2016 and I am now dealing with a recurrence! I had b/l mastectomy and chemo A/C , now have a mass in my chest wall and axilla area. Had a PET today and and having axilla biopsy next week. Oh also something questionable on my adrenal, will have MRI to r/o mets. Is there anyone out there who has had a similar experience with post mastectomy chest wall or axilla recurrence? If so how was it treated? I'm scared to death!

Hi Cookie - nothing to add but just wanted to stop by and send positive vibes and to keep us updated on next steps. ❤️

Hi cookie54,
Sorry to read that you have had a recurrence. I had a regional recurrence a year ago, a 3cm tumor in one of the lymph nodes in my axilla. I had a PET scan that showed only the axilla was affected so had a axillary dissection followed by chemo. I had gemzar and carboplatin. I then also had 3 weeks or radiotherapy to the left side of my chest and armpit.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you friend. It is tough to go through it all again but you can do it!

Thanks TNBC 77 for your response and encouragement. I am very happy to hear you are doing well now! So I'm happy to say my MRI was good, it was an artifact on the PET and not adrenal mets. I am also having carboplatin and gemzar along with pembrolizumab due to anterior chest wall involvement. I am getting my port this week and waiting on insurance approval for the immunotherapy. Hope to start treatment next week with surgery and radiation to follow. I am starting to accept the fact that I have to go down this dark road again. I dread it but like everyone else this is what we have to do! So I will get my game face on and get through this one step at a time!
Thanks again, appreciate it! " God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers"

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this again. It’s not a road we want to go down a second time. A dear friend of mine, also TN, had a similar experience as you and she is doing great! She is six years out from her first diagnosis and four years out from the second. I’m sending prayers and healing thoughts your way.

Thanks for the good news! Glad your friend is doing so well. I very much appreciate all the prays I can get and well wishes too.
