Weird Benign Biopsy Result

Hello all!

I am in my late 20s. After a mammogram, ultrasound, MRI, etc., which revealed discordant findings for a palpable lump under my nipple, I finally went in for an excisional biopsy a couple weeks ago. The breast surgeon just called me this week to deliver the great news that it's not cancer. However, I found the results to be a little odd and thought I'd post here to see if any folks had experienced something similar:

1) Even though the palpable lump isn't cancer, she still doesn't know what it is. Is that normal? The surgeon said it might be fat necrosis, but I don't remember bumping into anything or experiencing any trauma to my breast.

2) She said that the pathologist called her to tell her that they had found more lymphocytes than usual, which sometimes can be associated with someone who had diabetes or some sort of thyroid disorder. Has any had a biopsy that revealed increased lymphocytes?

All in all, I am really grateful.

Pambeesly, get a copy of your pathology report (and copies of your imaging and the reports on those) You should keep them with your other medical records for future reference, of if you should need to go to a different facility. Without knowing exactlywhat the pathology report says I think most of us would just be guessing.
