Starting 7th year with mbc
hi everyone: I just realized this weekend was the start of my 7th year with mbc. I was diagnosed de nova at 43 with innumerable bone mets and was on tamoxifen for 6 years and due to rising tm’s switched to I/L in December. I’ve been very lucky and I know it I’ve had very few physical side effects but this past year has been a doozy emotionally. I went through the grieving process when I was diagnosed I grieved for the life I was losing and was pretty confident that I had dealt with the huge emotional impact mbc was having on my life but after this past year I realized all I did was bury those feelings and they came roaring out this past year-all the fear, uncertainty and loneliness I ignored had to be dealt with. How my husband and five kids managed to put up with me I have no idea but with their love and support lots of counseling and Xanax I am feeling like I can take on year 7. I’m grateful for every year I’ve had and never thought I’d be here to turn 50 but here I am and to celebrate my kids got me a puppy-the gift that keeps on giving! I don’t post a lot but read all the threads and want to thank everyone for all the great info and support.

Partyoffive, thank you for posting! starting your 7th year with MBC gives me and other women here, hope. YAY for a puppy, too! I am 6 months into stage IV and seem to be doing ok but the unknown of how much time I have left is hard to take. Enjoy your family and puppy!

aprilgirl1-thank you so much. Those first few months were difficult you have to reframe your whole life and until this past year was the most difficult time in the past 7 years. I’ve was extremely lucky to be on just tamoxifen for so long and hope I can have the same experience on I/L. Good luck to you! And the puppy is so cute and makes me smile every day-he’s a French bull dog and he’s silly and goofy and though I just wanted some new sneakers a puppy is better then shoes!Kristin
