Cost of Zoladex

Options

Hey everyone. I've lived abroad most of my adult life, so American healthcare is really confusing to me. I'm currently a full-time graduate student and by August I will be enrolled in 5 classes (15 hours) and a 20 hour/week internship which makes it almost impossible for me to get a full-time job with health insurance benefits. My husband works at a start-up, so they're still growing and figuring out possible health insurance options. He really likes his job and his coworkers and makes decent money, so I don't want him to switch jobs just for insurance.

Right now we have insurance under the ACA, but my plan requires a $3,000 deductible before it starts paying for brand names like Zoladex (thankfully generic letrozole is covered). Is it normal for people here to pay full price for their prescriptions until they fulfill their deductible? It seems crazy to me to pay $600 every month for a shot. Currently my hospital is waiving the cost because of my status as a student, but that will run out in November so I'm trying to figure out if there are any alternative options.

Any suggestions?
