Delayed DIEP recovery time?

I am taking the plunge and have scheduled my delayed DIEP. The only problem is that I will have to go back to work about 3 weeks afterwards (the first week back will be pretty relaxed though). After my BMX, I could have gone back after 3 weeks but decided to take an extra week anyway. I am wondering if I am kidding myself thinking I will be able to work that soon, or it is it doable? I understand that some people have more complications and that everyone is different. I'm just looking to hear from some of you who've gone through it. What did your recovery times look like?

I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate DIEP, which is usually a harder recovery due to the longer surgery. I think i would have been able to work half days at three weeks out. I would have been exhausted, but I could have done it.

You don't say how old you are. I was 58 at the time of my surgery and I was dancing in high heels at five weeks out. I know of somene ten years younger who was housebound and unable to care for herself for six weeks. I think it all depends on the person.

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you.

Trishyla, thanks for the reply. I am 49 years old and in decent shape. I do have some other conditions but didn't have any issues with my surgeries last year.
