Anyone have the diep? Advice, please.

Hi, I have a positive brca1 and need to have surgery. The choice is bilateral w/o reconstruction or with diep. I'm seeking opinions of people who have had both to help me decide which to go with. For context, I have very large breasts and am overweight.

W/o reconstruction is tempting because of the very fast recovery time and the very short anesthesia time, but...I'm not sure I want to be without breasts.

Diep is tempting b/c it's effectively a tummy tuck with breast reconstruction. I worry about the 12 the anesthesia, long recovery time, the possibility of hard breasts or necrosis.

Is 12 hrs under general/propophol safe? Does anyone here have any autoimmune conditions, like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, sjogren's, Raynaud's, lichen planus, etc? These are some of the conditions I have and am concerned about having a flare from either procedure.

Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated ❤️

There are several DIEP threads that you can check out while you are waiting for answers. I had the DIEP reconstruction and am happy with it, but I do not know anything about having it with your underlying conditions.
