Hormones and hair loss/growth

Hi. After chemo and double mastectomy I started on Tamoxifen January 2018. Started noticing hair loss a year later in Jan 2019. Ovaries removed July 2019 and have been on Aromasin since.
The hair on my head is continuing to fall out even after topical minoxidil 10% from dermatologist. At the same time the increase in facial hair growth has been too much for me to handle. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm 42yrs old and need some help and recommendations on what to do.

My facial hair is thick and unruly however it is light in color so laser is not an option. I was doing Electrolysis but that is going too slowly.

Read about exosomes for hair on head but it's very expensive.

Can anyone relate or help?

Thank you!!

I don’t have any solutions, but I’m in the same boat: 42 years old, ovaries removed, taking an AI (letrozole), and noticing a lot of hair loss/thinning even though I use Rogaine. All of my bloodwork is fine so my doctors say this is just the effect of no estrogen & menopause. I’m hopeful that in 5 years after I complete my 10 years of pills that my hair loss will stop (or at least slow down). My hair doesn’t look thin at this point but I definitely notice it when I wash my hair. 😢

I had a thorough hysterectomy in 2018 and my previously thick hair started thinning. I'd have huge amounts of hair in the drain after washing it, plus I started getting facial hair, ick. Luckily, like you, it was light colored. It finally got so bad that I started shaving every two or three days. I hated it. I heard about Biotin and started taking 1000 mg daily. Maybe it's coincidence, but my hair stopped falling out. After several months, even my un-noticing hubby mentioned that my hair looked thicker. I still have a few areas on top that are thinnish, so I have to part my hair carefully - and sometimes I'll use my fingertips to dab a little yellowish face powder in the thin spots - it keeps overhead lights from highlighting the glare. I'm hoping it will all eventually fill in.

For the facial hair, I don't have a real solution. I tried depilatory cream but it left me numb for days. No thanks! But I bought an electric razor before starting radiation about 18 months ago, and I thought, what the hell, let's try it on the face. SUPER! It takes about 30 seconds and I don't have to go through the whole masculine ritual of lathering and shaving - and since I'm VERY nearsighted and had to take my glasses off to shave, I could barely see the mirror. With the electric shaver, I don't take my glasses off, and if I don't feel like using a mirror, I can do it by feel. It also stays charged for ages, like a month. I highly recommend it if you get to the point of wanting to do something about the facial hair.
