Prepectoral implants, anyone switch from under to over
I am scheduled after 5 years of constant pain and tightness to have my reconstruction changed from under muscle to prepectoral. Am concerned about cosmetic results.
After 7 previous surgeries due to many various complications I vowed to never get another surgery...but her goes number 8...I stopped looking at the foobs years ago...they look awful, so not sure I want to start up all the anxiety again over how they are going to look!
Also how was recovery from having pec muscle sewed back down again....

I just posted this article in another thread--might help for you too.

I switched from UTM to OTM implants last April. The recovery was tolerable. Drains for about 10 days and sore for a couple of weeks. Looks much better now!

I had pre pec expanders and then switched PS and he mostly does over muscle. So he tacked muscle back down and put implant over muscle. I had to have one more surgery to lift it a bit but it looks good and feel soft. A slight bit of rippling on the bottom but not bad. Much more comfortable.

Did you go back for fat grafting? I’m concerned about hiding implants edge at upper pole...I already have a lot of rippling on left side since mastectomy flap was very thin. They did some fat grafting previously, it didn’t help much. I’m concerned they will look planted on, like stripper boobs.....
Did you get more projection with OTM? My current implants are high profile...looks good from front, but side they look flat. PS told me new implants have more volume fill than ones from 5-6 years ago...which is supposed to help rippling, but didn’t really talk about projection. I hate that he leaves all my questions for morning of surgery

Thank you for posting that article! It gave me great information!
I know how you feel Jpsara! Although I only had three surgeries so far. But after those three surgeries my breast look so awful that I don't look. I have been wondering if I should just live with ugly breasts (one turned so they look very odd) or try to have them fixed. I even thought about removing the implants and let it be like that.
I just went to a new plastic surgeon today and he recommended switching from a teardrop implants to round and put them over the pec muscles. He said it would take three surgeries :-/ Now I am deciding if I should do it or not. I forgot about the drains! I don't know, I just feel the need to close this chapter and look normal.

I hear you about the “no looking” thing....I used to cry everyday when I took a shower...finally after 7 surgeries in 14 months, all due to complications, I quit looking at all! Every surgery I hoped for improvement, only for them to get more awful! I call myself a cross between “Humpty Dumpty and Frankenstein”! I look patched together like a quilt, scars, lumps, purple skin, 1/2 nipple etc.....
I just don’t want to start obsessing again over how they look when I have this next surgery...it’s just like opening Pandora’s box again! BUT, I’m tired of the constant pain, so after waiting more than 3 years, decided to do it...of course has to be in the middle of a f””,$$#g Pandemic...should I take that as a bad sign..LOL!
Why is your PS saying will be 3 surgeries? I know a lot of women had problems with the teardrops flipping around....
