Does anyone know anything about calcifications on lung area?

Options

Hello all. I am going to have a CT of lungs in probably less than a week due to calcification found on my chest x-ray ordered

by Allergy/Asthma specialist about a month and a half ago. At first the PA told me that calcification is okay on lungs and nothing to be concerned about but then she consulted with the dr there and b/c of my history, they sent me to a pulmonologist. I had the appointment today on the computer with dr. She is recommending the CT scan of lungs to see if calcification on nodule is on whole nodule which would be a good thing ( a scar ) or if it has a certain pattern or more which would not be good. She is also checking if it is on the blood vessel area which she thinks would be okay, and I don't know but said something about the lung tissue. She also said it was a lymph node, so I just don't know. I am so scared right now. She thinks it is a pretty good chance it is okay but we don't know for sure. The calciification is in the hilar region where everything comes together and it is very difficulty to see with blood vessels, lymph nodes, lungs, etc.... Has anyone gone through anything with their lungs? Just reaching out. Need to talk even if you never had lung issues.

JCP Dx 09/2005 IDC Stage 1, grade 2, 0 nodes positive on sentinel biopsy

then lumpectomy right side, and chemotherapy A/c 4 times then rads for 6 weeks straight whole right breast

My mother had br ca also but she didn't have the gene, nor did I , but we both got it in our forties within four years in diagnosis age. I was 42 and she was 46.

Also from JCP, I have never had iodine contrast and I am allergic to five medicines and have asthma which google says puts you a little more at risk. I'm also allergic to dogs and cats, even though I had a dog for 15 years, which Google says if you are allergic to animals that can put you ar a slightly more risk with allergic reaction to iodine. Has anyone had it? How did you do?

    Thank you,

    JCP

Dx 2005 rt. lumpectomy, Dx w/ IDC hormone/estrogen receptive and Her 2 negative . no node involvement in sentinel biopsy.

Chemo AC 4 times, then rads 6 weeks then Tamoxifen for about 2 years and then Femara for 8 and a half more.

Sorry you are dealing with this. Did they get your CT scheduled? Hoping it shows a benign nodule. They are pretty common, and are usually followed up with CTs every 3 or 6 months for a couple years. Keep us posted.

KBee. Thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. I've kind of had a delay in getting CT scan done bc I was worried I could be allergic to the contrast in the iodine. My mom couldn't take it and I am very allergic, 5 medicines allergic to current but 4 of them are antibiotics. So my Mom having the allergy to iodine does not make me any more at risk to have an allergic reaction. My allergist said I could take like a claritin before it but I called my brothers friend who is a dr and he said if I do it w contrast they can give me either iv or tablets of benadryl, pepcid, and steroids. Lung dr office unwilling to give me steroids at all. So...I guess I'll be taking the benadryl and pepcid on my own and hope for the best. I was going to do it without contrast but it sounds like they really need to be able to see it well bc area of calcification is near all the arteries , vessels etc in hilar region. Will you please keep me in a quick prayer that I don't have a reaction and that it turns out okay. It looks like I'll be having it this week. I hope you are doing well, Karen. Let me know of anything in particular you want me to pray for you or otherwise I'll pray for overall good health with no problems like in past

    Take care. JCP

A calcification on lung is not always bad. I had coccidiomycosis when I was 25 and had a calcification for years from that disease. No one worried about it. But since BC I am sure they will pay more attention if it were still there.

redhead403, hi! My mom and my brothers are red headed! You had a term I will have to look up. I will check Google for it. So after you had it you got calcifications? Are they there now? Do they show up on xray or not? Thank you for responding. JCP

    Hello KBee.

You have such a nice smile in your picture!

Anyway, I finally have the CT scheduled for chest area to check out calcification area. I'm going to do the contrast since

the pulmonologist really wanted it that way but I'm taking Benadryl and Pepsid beforehand as a dr fiend of mine said may help if end up being allergic

to iodine. I hope not, though.

Any prayers are appreciated. I am so afraid.

    How are you KBee?

    Thank you,

    JCP
