Enlarged axillary node! Biopsy tomorrow!

Options

Hello, haven’t posted much. I have been getting back to life then BAM! Last week I noticed swollen area in left armpit. Sometimes I could find it sometimes I couldn’t. I was seen right away and have a biopsy scheduled tomorrow. My breast surgeon called and said if node is cancerous then I will have ALND and radiation. Ugh. So scared. I am almost exactly 2 years from original diagnosis. Bo

Hello, I'm sorry about your node. Did they do an ultrasound? Maybe it's just a reactive lymph node?

I know this is unlikely - but I had what they thought was a node which was actually breast tissue. It goes up into the armpit on some people. It is called the tail of spence. That is where my tumor was.

Of course there is every possibility that it is totally b9 and I do hope so.

yes I had an ultrasound which I actually requested. I was seen in triage area and the doctor didn’t feel it.? Had ultrasound next day which showed suspicious node. I pray it’s nothing

    NPmom,

I read stories here, that some women have reactive lymph nodes. Sometimes (especially if you are skinny) you can feel normal nodes. How big is yours?

    NP Mom,

I will pray for you. I haven't been on here for about a year.

What do those four intials mean that your dr mentioned.

I had br ca in 2005 and now there is a calcification showing on chest xray that dr wants CT scan on.

I am so worried. I heard calcifications via internet on lung can be mets.

I will pray for you to have great results tomorrow.

    Keep me in yours, please.

    Thank you,

    JCP

NPMOM- Where is the node located? I have one in lung that they are going to do a CT scan on. I am so scared. Best wishes to you!

hi jcp my enlarged node is in my armpit.ALND is axillary lymph node dissection. I am sorry to hear that you are going through this as well. I keep telling myself it will be fine. Anything slightly abnormal with our history will have dr order more tests. I will keep you in my pr

Hoping the node is benign. Let us know how the biopsy goes. Sorry you're dealing with this.

sorry all for the late update. About 2 weeks ago I had my fine needle aspiration biopsy. Couple of days later the radiologist called and told me it was negative and found to be a reactive lymph node. She said I should repeat ultrasound in 6 months. Yeah!!! But then I got a call from my breast surgeon....she wants me to have a core biopsy likely in the next week or two to confirm negative. Even if negative she wants to take it out. Boo! Another surgery. If positive then I have to do it all...scans, axillary node dissection chemo and radiation. Mentally not going there yet😳please keep me in your prayers

NP, what does your Medical Oncologist think about having it removed. I would think if it's negative it would be OK to wait and have it re-checked in 3-6 months.

I agree, boo for another surgery!

Hi, Just want to say that I am rooting for you. I so hope it is benign. If not, however, wanted to let you know that I had many positive nodes and all sorts of other icky stuff that made my MO make scary faces, and yet I am doing fine five years later. I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

If BS is going to take it out if negative, why the extra step of the core biopsy? Why not do a surgical biopsy? Hoping you get results quickly and that all continues to come back benign.
