I'm 5 years out from my original diagnosis and just had a stereotactic biopsy which resulted in intraductal papilloma. I realize this is a benign condition with a small chance for hidden cancer cells but am wondering how often the final pathology results reveal malignancy? After going through breast cancer the first time I know I should be relieved my results were benign but I can't help but worrying. If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.

I have an extensive history of calcifications and biopsies, but a stereotactic biopsy identified the same for me in 2019. My surgeon did a lumpectomy, which pathology showed some atypical cells, but otherwise a bunch of other benign findings. I followed up with a 6 month mammo. After a couple more biopsies, because of additional findings of calcifications, I was eventually diagnosed with DCIS in February 2020, which is located in the same area where previous intraductal papilloma and calcifications were. This isn't necessarily true for everyone, it's just my experience with intraductal papillomas. Hoping for everything turns out good for you! 😊
