Any Other New Moms Fighting Breast Cancer?

Hi all!

I was diagnosed with stage III Her2+++ breast cancer in June 2019 when I was 36 weeks pregnant with my first child.

This has not been the new mom journey I had expected. It has been hard. I have a loving and supportive husband and parents who are very involved but I didn't expect to spend my daughters first year of life undergoing chemo and surgeries.

The fear of not being able to see this beautiful baby girl grow up scares me everyday. I have a great prognosis after surgery but the fear is still very real.

I was hoping to connect with any other moms out there who are going through treatment or anyone who has been in my shoes in the past.

I hope everyone is doing well in this very scary time!

Hi MadisonIATS, welcome and sorry that you are here. Indeed, this is certainly not how your first year of new motherhood should be. I am also Her2+ and found out when my youngest was 9 months old. I’m certain I had it while pregnant, but didn’t “find” it until quite a bit later. I have the same fears. Some days I can ignore it and be positive and other times it consumes me. I’d love to connect with you and offer any support I can! I’ve made it through surgery and 4/6 rounds of TCHP so far. I’ve got a marathon ahead (as most of is her2+ do) but I’ve found a lot of support within this community
