It can’t be this hard to lose a couple pounds

In 2018 I lost 30 - 40 pounds and finally got to my goal weight. I had just trained and completed the Peachtree Road race and while taking a shower after the race I found a lump. 1 month later I was diagnosed with ILC at 35. So needless to say my weight was no longer a priority.

For about a year I was fine and gain back like 5-8 pounds, then I was put on Zoladex, Letrozal, and Lexapro and that's when the weight really started to come back. 6 months after getting put on all that and being required by my doctor to gain weight for reconstructive surgery I have put on all the weight. Now life has settled down I am trying to lose the weight again and nothing is working. I have been running/working out 4-5 nights a week, intermittent fasting and counting calories and the scale has not moved a single pound in a month. I do not recall it being this hard to lose the weight the first time. So I am not sure if it is the drugs or me. Has anyone been through something like this?

I put a lot of fat an inches after cancer and it was very hard to make it budge. TBH, I am pretty muscular so I weighed almost the same, but my waist was so much bigger I could not fit in anything. I think it was the combination of reduced activity and Tamoxifen. I started tracking my macros and that really helped. I'm almost back to where I was pre-cancer and I'm even starting to see my abs poke through!

You can find a macros calculator online and then download an app like MyMacros to track. I'm not even very strict about it and I still saw a big difference. It's kind of fun too, like a game.

I've been there, too! I'm sure it was the letrozole, and thought the weight would never come off. Then my cardiologist put me on a very low carb diet. No bread, rice, cereal, grains, potatoes. One or two pieces of fruit a day. All the veggies, dairy and any other protein I wanted. It worked. I never counted calories, and kept the same level of exercise, and the weight came off at a slow but steady rate. Now, I'll eat a piece of bread from time to time, but only if it is really worth it (fresh-baked sourdough!) No more rice or pasta and I don't miss them. Might be worth a try?

Thanks for the info! I was starting to think I was losing my mind, I run 3.5 miles at least 4 times a week and watch what I eat except Friday. Which is family movie night and I eat an excessive amount of pizza and popcorn. Anyway I have downloaded a macro calculator and will be trying that.
