Skin Tag on nipple

hi, I just turned 18 in February and a few weeks ago I realized there was something small that grew on one of my nipples. It was small and hence I went to google and came across the name skin tag. These past few weeks, it has been painless and just there. However, just recently, when I wanted to shower it stung a bit. And I realize there was actually a small cut on the skin tag & there was a tiny dot of blood on my bra. Also because my period is coming, my breasts were swollen & hurting too. I am very worried about the skin tag and scared it could be something serious. Any remedies to get rid of it?

Skin tags are harmless, except that they can get caught on something or accidentally pulled (perhaps when you put on or take off your bra) which can cause them to bleed.

I had a skin tag develop on my nipple a long time ago. I was seeing a breast specialist regularly because I had so many breast cysts and he saw it and offered to remove it. It was a simple snip with surgical scissors and that was it. I can't recall if it bled at all but if it did, it wasn't for long.

This is not something you should do yourself, but next time you see your PCP or Gyn or even a dermatologist, you can ask to have it removed. Until then, just be careful to not snag it. And while there are products available that are do-it-yourself skin tag removers, you do not want to use those on the sensitive skin of your nipple. So definitely have a doctor remove it and don't attempt anything yourself.

All that said, you have self-diagnosed this as a skin tag. If it grows or changes in any way that is concerning and that suggests that it might be something else and not just a harmless skin tag, then go to your doctor to get it checked out.
