Remember When!!
Comments
-
DH is watching a tv channel that shows nothing but OLD shows. Twilight Zone. I just heard the music for Alfred Hitchcock show. Good Evening. His voice!! Scared me just as much as when I was little.
-
Remember playing / climbing on the metal monkey bars in elementary school. There wasn’t the soft, forgiving material on playgrounds that there is today. If you fell, you hit the ground - hard!
-
Remember Romper Room and the magic mirror? I loved when I heard my name called.
-
Romper, stomper, bomper, boo!! Can you tell me...... Loved Romper Room.
Remember when you first got a cell phone?
-
And all the “can you hear me now?” With those early cell phones.
-
our money said this
-
Remember the Mickey Mouse club? And Kukla, Fran and Ollie and Howdy Doodie and Princess Summerfall Winterspring?
-
Remember when the 1960s cars were so wide you could sit four across the backseat!!! All my girlfriends and I could ride around town in the same car!!!!
-
I remember milk break every morning when I was in elementary school. Two lucky kids got to go to the lunchroom and bring back the cartons. On Fridays we got chocolate milk!
-
Remember riding in the back of pick up trucks? No belts, no seats, no protection. We stood up leaning over the cab.
Or bike riding & roller skating w/o a helmet. No such thing.
-
remember desks with an ink well in the right hand corner?
-
Remember when 'Penmanship' was an actual graded class in school?
-
Or when "comportment" was graded. Do they even use that word anymore?
-
Now they have 'Conduct Grades' where I live.
Remember when high school football games were played on Friday afternoon (because there were no lights on the field) and the whole school dismissed early to watch them play?
-
We did have lights and night games, but did have school hour pep rallies!!! Especially when our teams were winning!!
Remember when girls didn't have sports teams themselves and were only allowed to be cheer leaders and sell snacks at the games to "support" the boys teams!!!
-
I remember The Pep Jug Cheer at rallies, where the classes would compete to see which was the loudest when doing a cheer. The winning class got possession of The Pep Jug until the next pep rally. My class wasn't gifted in other areas, but we were very loud!!

Remember when there were no plastic bags? Remember when dill pickles were sold from a wood keg , lift up the cover and scoop out what you wanted .
-
Great list Ruth!! Thanks for sharing!!! I had totally forgotten about test patterns!!
Remember when Johnny Carson was on late night, and although I don't remember him, Jack Parr? Just before the test pattern came on!!!!
-
Every one but butch wax. What is that?
-
Spookiesmom, butch wax was used on crewcuts to keep the hair upright.
We can still purchase dill pickles from a barrel at a local sandwich shop.
I can buy teaberry ice cream at a dairy in our state. Stock up my freezer each year.
National anthem when the tv stations shut down at night?
Clamp on skates that attached to your shoes and required a key for tightening? Kept the key on a shoe lace so we could find it.
Love reliving some of these "remember whens".
-
remember view masters
-
remember cars without seat belts? And car seat covers you could add either to jazz up the look a bit or to extend the life of the seat?
-
Remember Hugh Downs, Huntley and Brinkley, Walter Cronkite, and other trusted newscasters!
-
Ruth, interesting list! I remember 4 of the things on the list but a lot of them wouldn't have been in Australia anyway.
-
I loved Walter Cronkite!!! That was back when the national news was actually all news.....not entertainment.
-
Remember Kissing Potion lip gloss?
-
No I don't remember kissing lotion lip gloss, but I remember kissing.
-
Oh, just reread---it's kissing POTION, that sounds intriguing. What happened when it was used?
-
Wasn’t that a lipstick or lipgloss
