Radiation burn on the nipple

Okay, I made it through the "whole breast" radiation with just a pinking up of the skin. In fact I got pink so quickly my doc was sure I would have skin breakdown, but that never happened. Then I received five days of boost. By day three my nipple and surrounding tissue was burned. I asked my doc about it and she said that even though my scar from the partial is on the side of my breast, the tumor was partially under the nipple so it was within the boost zone.

Pain aside, it is embarrassing. I have shared photos with specific family and friends of my incision and "pinking" with the nipple covered over. Now when asked about the burn, I am too modest to show a picture of that.
