Not sure when I'm starting chemo and I'm scared.
After having three more tests done, an MRI of my brain, an echocardiogram and a CT scan which all came out good my Oncologist has decided what medications will be used for my chemo. TCHP regimen: every 3 weeks for a total of of 18 weeks. T-Taxotere, C-Carboplatin, H-Herceptin, P-Perjeta. Herceptin for 1 year and Anti-Estrogen for 5-10 years after other treatment. On the 9th chemo ed/social work/Nut. Dr. will want to start the chemo as soon as I am don with the appts. Due to the virus I'm not allowed to have anyone sitting there with me. I will bring things with me to keep me occupied.

Best of luck to you! It is not fun, but you will get through it. I was terrified and so sad, but once you find your routine, it will go by SO quickly. I have been out of chemo now for 2 months and I can't believe it went by as quickly as it did. Get a few books, an iPad to read or watch movies and take extra care of yourself during this time. Be easy on yourself, rest a lot, drink lots of water and you will make it through. Love and light to you xx

I am halfway through the TCHP part of this regimen and have found it to be generally tolerable so far. It’s not a walk in the park, but in the scheme of side effects I think I’ve been lucky. It’s a bummer to have to go to appts alone now, but hopefully you’ll luck out with a nice infusion nurse crew. Reach out if you need someone to chat with. You got this

stokerfan - I finished TCHP on 12/31. I worked full time the whole time. It is completely doable. Take your anti-nausea meds as prescribed and hydrate!! Also, I got massive diarrhea with it so make sure you take Imodium to help shut that down so you won’t get dehydrated. Don’t worry or be scared. This is your first line of defense against that stupid cancer

Sorry I'm just now getting back to this. Just haven't felt much like talking. I've kept myself busy during my treatments. I take my tablet with me and play games on it, watch some TV or just talk to the people next to me who are going through chemo or the family who are there with them. Had a set back and had to wait a week for a treatment. My platelet count was real low. Done to 90. Everything else was fine. Just have 2 more treatments to go and I sure hope and pray that nothing else stops me from getting them on time.

I start chemo TCHP on July 7...and yes, I’m scared. I’ve never broken a bone, had a stitch (until cancer) and only been put under twice, in my entire life, once for wisdom teeth, and once when they put in my port. My husband reminds me every day that I’m tough...I just hope I’m tough enough and can handle this. I’m scared of being so sick and worthless for the next 6 months. Not looking forward to spending 6 hours for the first chemo day...they told me to pack a lunch because there’s no cafeteria in the clinic.....I’m taking a first day of chemo picture with my backpack and lunch box.

I started TCHP yesterday and was scared sh*tless! I was there from 715am to 3pm but not ONCE did anything hurt or feel uncomfortable. I drank tons of water and iced my hands and feet during the taxo bag which was one hour. My infusion center has sandwiches but I decided to order takeout instead. Here I was going in! I felt like it was the first day of college or something, lol! My SO couldn't believe I wanted a picture. I plan to take one each time.

I hope you all will join the current chemo thread - something like Chemo June 2020 or July Chemo. It was very helpful to many of us to share the ongoing process with others who were in the same boat.
In fact all these years later, I am still in touch with some of these people.

Here are the threads for May & June. Doesn't look like anyone has started July yet.
