Stopping chemo (TAC) at 4 rounds?

Options

Hi friends, I have had 4 rounds of TAC and they have been, of course, pretty tough. I am getting most concerned with the increased chest pain I am having for the 4-5 days following the treatment. Also, my father died of leukemia at age 77 and I am concerned about getting leukemia with the increased number of treatments. My dx was 3a.

I know only I can make a decision so I'm just wondering if there is anyone who has stopped before the full 6 treatments?

Thanks

BBM, You should contact your MO about your symptoms. They may want to do some testing before your next infusion. I had TC only and I got my MO to reduce the last dose bc of SE's I was having. I'm not saying that is a good option for you, but pls discuss with your Dr as soon as you can. Adryamicin (sp?) can cause heart issues in some ppl. You can always seek a second opinion. Hopefully, someone else will drop in and give you more insight! Best wishes~

Discuss with your onc, - there are options. After my first dose of A/C, it was decided that I receive them separately ( one round of A, then C, then A, etc) until I finished the same total amount. It took a few weeks longer, but it helped with side effects. I followed that with 4 rounds of dd T, and it was fine.

So, rather than just stop treatment, - look for other approaches.

    Be well!
