Anastrazole and Anxiety

Options

I can’t believe I’m voicing my anxiety on a forum like this, but I really don’t know where else to turn. Three years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer and had a double mastectomy. The chemo was not that difficult for me to go through and all was well. After 2 1/2 years on Anastrazole I feel like a different person. I feel totally inadequate about everything and need constant validation. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just losing my sense of self?

Yes, Anastrozole works to block estrogen and this can affect your mood and cause anxiety, and a myriad of other things as I am finding out since I am at almost 5 years but need to continue for another 5. I take vitamin D and magnesium and they seem to help with depression and anxiety for me. Also, the cancer diagnosis itself can change your feelings about yourself in that your body betrayed you and now it is difficult to trust yourself. I am just sharing how it affected me, but I have worked hard to get through those feelings and am much stronger in myself now. (Most of the time, anyhow.) 😀
