Surgery Delayed Now

Late January I had a left partial mastectomy. The margins were dirty and the dcis was found to be extensive with comedo necrosis so I was referred out to have a bilateral total mastectomy with spacer placement. Since my consult with both surgeons, I’ve been waiting for a phone call about the surgery date. Now all the virus madness is here and I was told by my surgeon today that my surgery is delayed indefinitely and that I would be starting Tamoxifen immediately until mysurgery date. Anyone else going through the same experience?

    I am so sorry you are going through this. I had my surgery last week and right up until the day, I was worried I would be postponed due to COVID-19 delays. I have no advice for you other than to ask, where do you live, and do you have an option to travel to a cancer hospital in a city that may not be as impacted by COVID-19? It might be worth exploring.
