Is this swelling, bruising, and pain typical?

Hello!

I had surgery on the 13th and am still in quite a bit of pain. I see the surgeon today for a dressing change, so I hope he can help. Hoping at least one of the two drains can be removed.

Is this swelling and bruising typical? The bandage was so tight it made my skin bulge out and compressed it so hard in one area that my husband and I had to unwrap the bandage. The swelling feels hard and the bruising is so sore I can't even touch it. Any material against the bruises feels like fire, especially on the underarm area.

Hard to tell from the picture, but right above the bandage there's a large crater where it caves in, and then above that is a lump of swelling.

I only have Tylenol and Ibuprofen for pain, and it helps, but not enough to let me relax and sleep.

Just curious to know if others have had this, after their surgery.
