Will treatment help my pain?

Options

Hi all,

I'll skip the ups and downs of the last few months to say that I have, at minimum, bone mets to my hips and pelvis area. My question: is there any possibility that treatment will help with pain? This stupid disease has taken so much from me, but up until recently, I have been able to enjoy my long strolls and easy hikes. I feel devastated to think that I won't ever be able to walk more than a few blocks without pain. Of all the despair I feel right now, for some reason this just aspect just about makes me think treatment isn't worth it.

Advice? Encouragement?

Talk to your oncologist about your pain. I've had bone mets for close to 6 years and have no pain. I've had radiation for pain in my upper arm, hip, rib, lower spine & sacrum. Depending on what treatment you're on, it could be pain from that as well & changing brands or drug could help.

I have 2 friends that have bone mets. Radiation reduced, but did not eliminate their pain; I am sure everyone is different though. I am sorry you are having to endure this.
