Waiting for the biopsy result and fear of the worst
self exam showed lump
so went for diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound: it reads: BI RADS 4 , subcateogry 4C
Mammogram findings: The breast parenchyma is heterogeneously dense, which may lower the sensitivity of mammography. Partial circumscribed rounded mass n the superior aspect right breast, middle depth, just medial to the nipple line. No associated suspicious calcification or obvious distortion.
What does it mean?
Also, i lost a friend to sarcoma, whose cancer started from breast. Would my biopsy reveal what cancer i have and what stage?

I don't know how to interpret your report, but am so sorry this is happening to you. Waiting for the news is the hardest part of the whole experience, truly it is. But if it's bad news, you CAN get through it to the other side and do whatever you have to do. Hang in there!
-
I also don't now how to interpret this, but it sounds like that description is pretty lacking for why it's 4C.
-
Did you contact your doctor for interpretation? I never hesitate to go right to the source; it really does help to alleviate worry and thinking the worst. Best wishes to you
-
all i m told by doctor is that it is higly suspicious of malignancy
They want to wait for biopsy results before talking more
I am just trying to nterpret other words i typed above in hope for some good news
-
Waiting is so hard, we have all been there. Try to occupy yourself with something you enjoy. Shopping, movie, exercise etc. If it is nothing than you have wasted precious hours of your life. If it does indicate something, you will be mentally exhausted all ready when you need to gather your thoughts going forward.
Keep us informed

you could try posting it in this thread below for djmammo to interpret. I suspect he will say it's lacking some information though. I think that "rounded" is generally not cancer. I think the summary is missing a lot of other key descriptive words though that would justify 4C which is 50%-95% chance of malignancy rather than just a general 4 or 4A.

ok thanks so muc
-
good poin
-
no suspicious associated calcifications also seems good since calcifications around a mass is a sign of cancer I think. that report is lacking.
-
A few years ago something was found on my left breast. A biopsy was done. It turned out to just be calcification. No cancer. Be positive. Waiting can be scary. When do you hear back?

thank you

Hello all,
My results of biopsy said it is not cancer. What a relief!
Instead it is complex Fibroadenoma. Next steps to be decided.
I am told told ask for second opinion on biopsy taken as for a dear one 2nd pathology report confirmed cancer while first one on the same biopsy was said no cancer.
Any thoughts
Thanks for being there for me
-
oh, nice! that's awesome news! your report just didn't sound like cancer to me. still not sure why they categorized it as 4c, but great that it's just a fibroadenoma.
why did your friend get a 2nd pathology report on the same biopsy? I'd likely just trust that if the pathology report said it's a benign Fibroadenoma, that's what it is.
-
Personally, if my results were not believed to be discordant with the imaging I wouldn't worry about it.
-
right, if the pathologist or the radiologist had doubts about these results not matching the image, they would say it was discordant benign and ask you to either repeat the biopsy or get it removed with an excisional biopsy. I needed an excisional biopsy to prove that it was really benign. If nobody said it was discordant, just trust the results are benign and likely go back for imaging in 6 months to make sure nothing has changed.

My friend got another on as that is what she was asked by a relative. This was in India and could be that technologies are different,,,,not sure
-
thanks all again
