That is a weak study, being observational and only based on self reporting of diet. More robust studies have shown that low fat dairy is fine, that only high fat dairy might be an issue. My guess is if you are earing lots of butter and cheese and the like you are probably eating other things like higher fat meats too

I am the sad exception that did not drink a lot of milk, did low fat, and was vegetarian....just reporting what's out there.

I'm the weirdo who eats lots of butter but practically no meat--butter is life, and honesty it's the reason I can't fully embrace veganism.

Yes, weak study. By the way, the increase was NOT associated with cheese intake, only milk. I personally can't drink milk but can eat some cheese (hard cheeses). I'm not going to tell my daughters to stop drinking milk, they need the calcium (and won't be eating 8 cups of spinach to substitute for a cup of milk).

Do any of you have the app "Outcomes 4Me"? They posted another spin on the article that put the results in another perspective. Medical News today. I cannot post the link but you can google it.

Basically said that in the study 1 in 50 got breast cancer, if we were to increase the risk by 80% then 1.8 in 50 would get breast cancer.

The report chose to report relative risk not absolute risk.
