Exemestane side effect?

Or am I just a delicate freakin' flower?

Back story: I was on anastrozole when I was dxd 3 years ago. It gave me a disgusting rash that left scars on my arms. Fast forward to three years later, and I'm dxd again this past October, with a different type of breast cancer, but in the same breast. Double mastectomy, lots of issues, blah blah, I'm now finally on exemestane. I've been taking it for 2 weeks.

Yesterday I noticed that the back of my hand was itchy and kind of bubbly. Then later on, my neck and chest started itching, but there's no apparent rash. I'm getting itchy in the same areas that I had the horrible rash 3 years ago. Has anyone ever had a rash from this drug? I'm going to call the oncologist's office, but I'm almost out of paid time off and if I can hold off going until my follow up in 2.5 weeks, I'd rather do that.

    Hi Amelia,

We're so very sorry to hear you're experiencing this uncomfortable effect! While rash is a side effect of this type of treatment, which you can read about on our main Breastcancer.org site's Rash side effect page, you may want to reach out to your doctor ASAP in case this is an allergic reaction.

We hope you find relief soon!

AmeliaPond - I started getting itchy on my upper chest exactly two weeks after starting exemestane. At first it was invisible, then gradually got itchier, larger, pink and bumpy. It's in an area that had radiation earlier this year. I've talked to all my doctors about it and they don't think it's the exemestane, but I think it must be. No creams that they've told me to try have helped. Hope this makes you feel less crazy!
