leg pain
Hi Everyone,
I have been on this site before but not on this particular forum so I will first tell you a little bit about my cancer history. I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer, hers neg, estrogen positive 3 yrs ago. I had a bilateral mastectomy with no radiation or chemo as there was no lymph node involvement. They stared me on Arimidex. Fast forward to today. I have now been diagnosed with SEVERE osteoporosis. I had a milder case before starting Arimidex. My oncologist just took me off of the Arimidex and started me on tamoxifen. That was a few weeks ago. I am now having pain in my lower calf area on the inside which is a strange place to have leg pain. It's not cramping but hurts like heck when I walk. I'm wondering if this could be from the Tamoxifen. I'm going to send her a message tomorrow since any kind of pain like this should probably not be ignored. Of course my mind is going to is it "bone" pain and do I have to worry about bone cancer.

Hi kmb4, Do you have any redness/swelling? Does it feel hot? You need to call your doctor to rule out a blood clot. Tamoxifen gives a lot of us leg cramps magnesium helps with that, but this isn't that.

Hi flashlight - no I do not have any of the things you mentioned. That also crossed my mind since I know it can cause blood clots. It's weird because the only time it hurts is when I walk on it, otherwise it feels fine. Getting up in the morning it feels fine until I walk a bit and then starts to hurt. I do plan on sending her a message tomorrow just to see what she thinks

Best wishes to you!

I had a blood clot after surgery, while on Tamoxifen and it just felt like a pulled muscle, at first. I also think you should get it checked out, as soon as possible.

Thanks Peregrinela,
I have sent a message to my oncologist. I will let you know what she suggests I agree it needs to be looked at

Hi ladies,
I wanted to update you on my leg situation. I went in today for an ultrasound and no blood clot! That was good news. Now I'm just waiting to see what they say about the pain.

That is great news!! Keep us posted.

glad I found this thread , my calf hurts, it keeps me up at night. It feels swollen but it is now. Sometimes it feels like it may split open. Side effect of tamoxifen I'm guessing.
