I’m currently on my 3rd round of chemo. One more to go! I’ve begun experiencing weird tastes in my mouth. Specifically bitterness! Everything I eat tastes bitter! I have not experienced this until now.
Anybody else with the same problem? Does it go away after chemo?

Thank you

nothing tasted right for me. Even water. Eat what appeals to you, stay hydrated. It will get better.

    Congrats on one more treatment!!

I also had the same bitter taste, and like Spookiesmom, by the 3rd chemo, even water was yuck. I found drinking ice water thru a straw was the only way I could tolerate it. I also drank hot green tea. I fixated on a couple of foods - hard-boiled eggs, toast, chicken noodle soup, etc. and I ate those repeatedly. About 4 weeks post my last chemo, my taste was pretty much back to normal.

    Hang in there !

OMG! Yes! Even water tastes bad. I even had my husband but distilled water to see if that helped, but it did not!!

    Thank you.

Throughout chemo my taste buds were wonky -- it seemed like every day things tasted differently. I remember when I first started chemo, sweets tasted REALLY SWEET and sours tasted REALLY SOUR. Chemo effect on taste buds was a really bizarre experience. I also had some days where I was really sensitive to food textures. Most days, acidic foods (citrus, tomato based) tasted pretty good. I only had a few days when water tasted funny.

So hopefully for you your taste buds will change again soon and the bitterness would go away.
