I am scAred.
I was stupid. I really thought I had beat this. Though, everyday I come to they board and read, I really thought... Three years ago I had DCIS, lumpectomy, radation and and now Tamoxifen. Clean margins, small. No issues.
Today I found a hard finger tip sized something deep into the breast in the incision. This nearly destroyed everything three years ago.. and I have a nine year old.....
I called the doctor and am waiting back....

Scary, of course. Remember that it could be scar tissue, cyst, fibroadenoma or something else benign. It’s good you called the doctor so you can get this looked at and hopefully they’ll get you in soon. I think once you have breast cancer, any change triggers the fear of recurrence/metastasis. Try to distract yourself (most of us have limited success with that, but any worry free moment is worth it.) Hoping for a worry free outcome for you

So sorry you are scared. May I ask if you are being followed by an oncologist? There's no use of calling yourself stupid. Cancer doesn't discriminate and it's no ones fault. It just happens. There are many benign things it could be even 3 years out. Hang in there, good call reaching out to the Doc, to get answer soon as to what it is. Best wishes to you. Take care.
-
Thank you for the kind words.
Yes, I am being followed. I am at Mayo, now being followed by my medical oncologist. Mammo in October was clean.
-
Fingers crossed!!

I know the fear first hand of finding a lump after surgery and then having to wait for answers. It really is horrible. I hope you get seen very soon and get reassurance and/or answers to the lump you've felt. Let us know how everything goes.
-
I agree with the above posters. Most likely scar tissue, cyst, cording. Waiting is really hard. Please do let us know.
Also when you get a chance, if you go to My Profile and add your prior diagnosis and treatment we will be better able to respond to your questions.

I also had a big lump, fingertip is an accurate description. Mine was a fatty thingie and not a recurrence. I had bmx not lumpectomy but scar tissue is scar tissue....
Keep us posted. We're sending good thoughts and waiting is always the worst. Best to you.

Thank you all.
I feel like an overreacting fool.
It was scar tissue. I had a U/s and then talked to the doctor. All good.
-
so glad to hear your good news!!!!
-
Wonderful news!!! You weren’t an overreacting fool.... you were just scared like we all are when we find a lump! So happy for you!!
-
could totally be fat necrosis. I had the same thing happen to Me with my scar area. Try to relax. It was hard as a rock as well didn't move a bit. But scar tissues can cause adhesions as well. Sending you well wishes
Edited to say Yayayay!!!!!
-
Yay! So happy for you :-) You are definitely not an overreacting fool - the fear of recurrence rears its ugly head, causing fear and anxiet and there isn't too much we can do about it until we get answers to settle our nerves!
-
Never overreacting. You must check out any changes. I am glad you were able to feel it and get it checked.

Great news on results of ultrasound, Mudstick!
JCP
I am so worried right now with my CT scan being scheduled b/c chest xray had calcification on it.
I read that could be mets or not. I am very scared.
