Fat sourcing besides stomach for reconstruction

I had DIEP done 12 years ago, now I am diagnosed with the cancer in the other breast. I am not sure whether to do lumpectomy or mastectomy yet. But in case of mastectomy what are my reconstruction options if I don't want implants ?

Its been a while since I followed this forum but in the past I found most up to date personal experiences.

    Hi IJL:

    Alternatives to DIEP are SGAP and also I believe TRAM flap. Between the two, SGAP would be more appealing to me personally because it doesn't disturb the core muscles.

    I wasn't a candidate for DIEP (stomach) but my surgeon did take a little from my thighs and the butt areas....

    how was your recovery? I found DIEp surgery quite tolerable except for the first 24 hours when the room temperature was hot to let blood vessels to heal well.

    12 years ago when I had DIEp there were a number of negative reviews for SGAP procedure but I think that it has improved since then. I would love to hear more about your experience
