Definitely talke to DR about supplements. They might not know much about them or think they do any good, but they should know if there are any problems/conflicts with the cancer treatment. It seems like the only one my oncologiost supported was Vit D. When he tested my level ( I was taking 1-2000 UI at the time), I was on the low side of range, and she suggested I increase the amount. Where you live and how much exposure to sun you get will also affect vit D level. An ND suggested melatonin as well, not for sleep, but because it might help with cancer. She cited a study with a very small sample size. I take the 20 mg she suggested, thinking it might help, but shouldn't hurt, but now wonder after reading an article that suggested that it might. Supplements just are not studied or regulated, so it is hard to get good information. IT also varies with each individual, their health, their lifestyle, the cancer, and the cancer Rx. other Rxs. That said, I also take a multi, something for bones, biotin, vit D, turmeric, iodine, glucosamine/chondroitin.
