Hi all,

Just got the results of my genetic testing and I have a mutation of both Palb2 and Chek2. Both my mom and maternal aunt have the same and both developed breast cancer in 40s & 50s with my mom deciding on bilateral mastectomy. Maternal grandmother also had breast cancer (two separate cancers many years apart). I have an MRI and an appointment at the high risk breast clinic in 10 days to talk over my options. Does anyone else have this same cluster of mutations and family history? Thinking my options will be regular monitoring with mammogram and MRI or risk-reducing mastectomy and trying to wrap my mind around what makes the most sense. Would love to hear what others' doctors have recommended in this kind of situation so I can be mentally prepared. Thank you!

Hi GymMomNC, and welcome to Breastcancer.org,

We're sorry to hear of your positive genetic test results, but happy you're diligent about your breast health and family history!

We wanted to suggest that while you may get some helpful posts here, you may also want to post your questions in the Positive Genetic Test Results forum to see if others there can weigh in with their experiences.

We hope this helps and that you get a plan soon! Let us know what you decide.
