Here I go again??
Oh, the joys of this breast cancer journey never seem to end, do they?
I went in on Monday of this past week for my mammogram/ultrasound. (Last one was in April, which was clear.) They found an area of concern, which was not there in April and suggested a biopsy. (In my non-cancer breast.) Of course, I said yes. The biopsy was yesterday. During the biopsy, the radiologist found another mass, deeper in my breast, closer to the chest wall, that did not present on the mammogram. Because the biopsy was ultrasound assisted, she did not feel that she could biopsy this new mass accurately. I am now scheduled for another biopsy, this time MRI assisted, for better accuracy. Thankfully, they were able to schedule me in quickly......I go back on Tuesday. I was told the results from the biopsy yesterday should be in by then, so I will get those results and then move forward with the second biopsy.
I was told that it could be one of three things:
1) Absolutely nothing and totally benign.
2) An enlarged lymph node, which she said would not be good as it could mean that the cancer has metastasized.
3) A new primary cancer.
I am trying VERY hard to not freak out.....but y'all know how easy that is, lol! Just like the last time on this roller coaster, it's the waiting that is so crazy hard. I am powerless and it's a horrible feeling. I know that there is nothing y'all can do, but I wanted to share with others who "get it".

Oh etnasgirl. I'm so sorry that you are going through this again. I'm glad that you've been able to get your biopsies scheduled quickly. Here's hoping that you discover that both your biopsies come back as #1s -- absolutely nothing and totally benign. ((Hugs))

Thanks! Yes, that's what I'm hoping for too.....absolutely nothing but a waste of some time and money, lol! I will be MORE than happy to lose both for that result.

In the meantime, you know the drill....Keep busy! Only two more days! Easier said than done...
I almost got an MRI-guided biopsy on my left hip (femoral neck), but then the MRI couldn't find the spot so my oncologist decided that the PET scan had delivered a false positive. I've had two breast MRIs on my stomach -- not sure you'll be doing that since the spot they're looking at appears close to the chest wall. Good luck!

ElaineTherese, I so appreciate your support. Thanks a bunch, I really needed it!

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Prayign they are benign. Keep us posted.

Good luck with your MRI biopsy today. I hope they are able to get a good sample and your results are available quickly (and found to be benign)!!!
