Hello

I have been very fortunate to be part of this forum. I have learned so much from so many of you. Thank you. I am writing on behalf of my wife, 57 yrs old.

An initial biopsy path report indicated "colloid type" cancer with no specific mention of pure or mixed sub type. ER+ (strong at 100%) PR+ (Low at 15%), Her-2 Neg (score 0). Classified as grade 1, clinical stage 2 (2.1 cm). Initial clinical consults with oncologist and surgeon were very optimistic, and excellent prognosis was expected given this pathology and tumor type. Anticipated treatment plan was Surgery, radiation and endocrine therapy.

Well, surgery pathology did not paint the same picture. 4.3 cm mass, 1 of 2 sentinel nodes positive with 3mm micro met and extranodal extension of 1mm present. PR also low at 4%. No lymph-vascular invasion.

This surprised the radiation oncologist, surgeon and medical oncologist, not to mention my wife and I. Our next step is waiting for the Oncotype score. For whatever its worth, once again the docs are optimistic it will come back low due to KI-67 at 4% and Mitotic score of 1, even though it is a grade II.

I would like to hear from anyone in this group that has had a mixed type mucinous breast cancer and more particularly, that has had node invasion. I would like to learn what treatments you underwent, how long ago were you diagnosed, what prognosis was offered and anything else you feel is pertinent.

thank you
