Taken off of Ibrance
Hi all, My mom who has MBC in bone, liver and lungs and is on Ibrance and an aromatase inhibitor was just taken off after two week based on her first blood test. She's incredibly sad about this and reading a ton into it. Is there anyone who has had their dose reduced? Does this mean anything as far as overall impact on the utility of the medication? Thank you in advance!

The majority of women that start at 125 mg dose get their dose reduced. My wife had her dose reduced twice, to the lowest dose, 75mg, and she had been benefiting from the medicine for a couple of years now. Don't think for an instance that you must have the full strength to benefit. Many women on here are at reduced dose and it holds their cancer at bay.

Thank you Husband11. That is incredibly helpful to know. All the best to you and your wife!

Very common. This is from the ibrance information packet.

Sorry, but I mixed up the highest dosage number. Its 125, then 100, then 75 mg. I was wrong when I posted 150mg. There is no such dose. I corrected my earlier post.

I was reduced from 125 mg to 100mg in 3 months of starting due to low neutrophil and platelet count.
I have been on Ibrance/ Letrozole since Jan 2017.
I am RARELY sick..just occasional cold.

I started on 125 mg and immediately got knocked down to 75. I had to stay off for three weeks before my counts were good enough. I have even had times in the 75 mg that I’ve had to take an extra week off. It’s very common to have this happen.

My wife has had her next cycle delayed a couple times due to low neutrophil levels. Although she started out on 125mg she quickly went to 100mg and recently was dropped down to 75mg for her 8 cycle of Ibrance. There are plenty of patients doing quite well on 100mg or 75mg and some are on a 3 week on and 2 week off schedule to allow their immune systems to recover.

Thank you all for your encouraging words. I knew that some people reduce their dose, but I'm glad to hear that the reduced dosage doesn't necessarily mean that there is an impact on the drug's ability to fight the cancer.
I'm hoping she can be on this treatment for some time. I'm struggling with an overall prognosis estimate based on her mets, it feels so difficult to plan for the future when we just don't know how she'll respond to the drugs.

That's true for anyone. There are other drugs out there if ibrance isn't for her. Live each day the best she can.
