MRI report - I do not understand - Help

Hi,

I had mammogram, and it showed that J had high density with AD. They recommended that I do an MRI. The below results explains the MRI findings, and I really need help to understand the report. All I was told, is that a Biopsy is required.

Amount of fibroglandular tissue: Scattered fibroglandular densities.

Background parenchymal enhancement: Mild.

Nonspecific foci of enhancement are present in both breasts. There is a region

of nonmasslike enhancement at the central left breast with mixed kinetics,

measuring 1.8 x 0.6 cm. (Series 501, image 108, location at -6.8).

There is no axillary or internal mammary adenopathy. The chest wall is

unremarkable.

IMPRESSION:

1.8 x 0.6 cm region of nonmasslike enhancement at the central left breast which

correlates to the area of distortion, seen only on CC view. This region

corresponds to the one view distortion on mammography. Therefore, stereotactic

biopsy using 3-D tomo symphysis is recommended.

I am in a panic mode, I will do the Biopsy this week, but I understand the results will take 2-3 days. I appreciate your thoughts.

I highly recommend posting your MRI results on the posting board MinusTwo provided. DJMammo is a great wealth of information! When I posted he gave me the following link to help me understand the terms that were used in my report. It was really helpful for me as I am the type of person who wants to understand EXACTLY what is going on and why....I'm sure I am a doctors nightmare with all my questions, lol. There is a lot of great information in these forums also. After a excisional biopsy I ended up having benign results that just raised my already high risk factor up a bit. Being able to come here and get information and support helped a lot during the crazy scary waiting periods, so don't be shy! Sending benign thoughts your way in addition to wishes for exceptionally fast pathology results!
