Wigs covered by insurance

Options

My insurance (BCBS of IL PPO+) covers up to $1,000 for a cranial prosthesis (wig); however, it has to be an in-network provider and there are no in-network providers in Chicago according to them!

Has anyone experienced trying to fight with insurance to cover the cost of your wig?

I know I need to start with a prescription from my doctor, but from there, I am lost! Please help!

I had the same issue and ended up purchasing one. You can check with your local Am Cancer Society. I believe they offer a free wig to cancer patients. There may also be some Breast cancer resource centers in your area that have other options. Insurance companies....ugh.
