Hello beautiful ladies. I have been reading and learning a lot from the posts on this community. You ladies are just awesome with the support you offer at all times.

I had mastectomy in December 2019 with immediate diep flap reconstruction in my left breast.

Got my initial pathology report and thought I was all done. Just got an added report saying what the cancer type is (that's my topic) I am seeing my MO next week, I would appreciate some advice as to what questions to ask and what would the likely treatment be.

Thanks,

Aby

Aby, you've posted in a Forum where the Moderators request no posts, so I expect that they will move your thread to a different forum.

To your question, if your diagnosis is pure DCIS, Stage 0, i.e. with no invasive cancer present, and assuming that you have acceptable surgical margins after the MX, then no additional treatment is required. That would not be the case if you had invasive cancer (which often is found together with DCIS) but DCIS alone is a non-invasive condition so systemic treatments such as chemo and Herceptin (which is given for HER2+ invasive cancer) are never given. With DCIS, regardless of the hormone status, generally no additional treatment is recommended after a mastectomy.

Thanks so much Beesie for your response. I have always been impressed with your wealth of knowledge of BC.

Thanks also for the letting me know that I am not supposed to post on this particular place...newbie me.

To the moderators; my apologies please. Please kindly move to wherever you deem fit as long as I can see it 😍
