How to avail Herceptin

Hi . I'm writing in behalf of my dear my mother who's from Philippinesand came to visit me her in the US . She's the one who has. BC and her2 + . She didn't have insurance and not a resident here . How can we avail herceptin ? We could not afford the $70k full course of herceptin. She have undergone mastectomy and chemo but not herceptin . I have read about Herclon in India that's also manufactured from Roche but I don't know if the Herclon drug in India I found in the internet if it's authentic . Is there any way we can avail herceptin ? Or the authentic Herclon drug ?

Hi there, Leonor57. You may want to check with the doctor she's seeing here in the US, they could have information about how to get Herceptin at a lower cost, perhaps through a rebate program. We would caution against purchasing meds online, as there's no way to verify that the drugs are authentic, as you mentioned. There may also be social programs that offer the drugs at discounted prices in certain circumstances, or local organizations that can help offset the cost. Also note - Herceptin is kick started by giving WITH taxol or taxotere. I don't know if it would be recommended alone at this point. Your mother's doctor or nurse or the hospital should be able to help.
