Continued Zoladex shots after DIEP flap reconstruction?

I am planning to have reconstruction surgery in April, but my appointments with my plastic and breast surgeons are not for 2 more weeks. In the meantime, I am hoping some of you can share your experiences in continuing monthly Zoladex (goserlein) injections after the DIEP flap. One nurse told me to be careful not to get too much belly fat removed or the injection will hurt so so much more. I hadn't considered that! Has anyone continued the shots after surgery?

I am now strongly considering just getting my ovaries removed. I will ask my surgeons about the timing for that. I think one of my doctors said they wouldn't want to do a oopher & hysterectomy at the same time as the diep flap. Maybe/probably because of not wanting too many surgical sites at once.

Would you expect the surgeons to recommend having an oopherectomy before or after the diep flap reconstruction?

The only reason I was going to stick with the zoladex shots is because I'd heard of that study that shows overall life expectancy reduced in women who get their ovaries out before 65. But my understanding is that that study refers only to women who didn't already have breast cancer. True? I believe other threads have addressed that, and I'm going to ask my oncologist at my next appt.

I'm 41.5, diagnosed 1.5 yrs ago at 40. So pretty early meno for me.

I didn't have DIEP, but I was having fat grafting and I had them put the Zoladex shot higher than my belly button. It didn't hurt any more than the regular spot.

I'm not sure how high they go for DIEP, but maybe it will still work.
