I had a stereo needle biopsy just before Christmas, and had my excisional biopsy done 3 days ago. How soon until any of you got results from that surgery?

Mine took 3 days, but my surgeon told me at the time that it looked like cancer.

I had a follow up appointment scheduled when I had mine. It was nine days after surgery and they don’t give results by phone on surgical ones where I go

I wish my surgeon had given me some idea of what he saw. He didn’t even speak with my family after the biopsy. No word from him at all, just wait until the follow up... the area excised seems smaller than he said it would be so I guess that’s a good sign.

Most of the time there isn’t anything to tell. For the most part abnormalvs. normal cells are only discernible after being prepped and viewed with a microscope.

My surgeon shared the results with me, telling me they were positive for cancer, as soon as I woke up from the anesthesia. That was a friday, and I saw him Monday to review the written pathology report. In hindsight I almost wish he had waited, since he told my husband and mother the cancer I had was "rare", which was untrue (ILC is the second most common form of b.c.) and so I lived with that b.s. for the entire weekend with no way to research it since I didn't have any real info yet.

so I just got my results. DCIS intermediate grade. It was very small, and won’t need a lumpectomy as dr got clean margins with excisional biopsy. Meeting with onc tomorrow. Also was negative for Genetic testing. Frustrated to be in the 20% upgrade group, but happy to have caught it early.
