Stage 1 to 3. Suspicious nodes on US, but no surgery yet.

I had a biopsy done on the largest suspicious lymph node on my cancer side. It came back positive. The Nurse navigator gave me preliminary results that there appear to be a total of 4 suspicious nodes and this would change me from Stage 1 to Stage 3. Since this is treated differently, I am awaiting an appointment with the Oncologist later in the week. I'm just wondering if I can still hold out hope that I might be still stage 2, even though one node came back positive. My surgery was scheduled for early February but now I'm not sure of that any more.

Awww dysonsphere, I’m sorry. That just sucks. Hoping that the meeting with oncologist will help to figure out your surgery/treatment plans. Sending prayers and positive thoughts

Based on the new (from 2018) pathological prognostic staging, which are alternate staging criteria issued jointly by the AJJC together with the standard TNM staging, it looks like even being N2 (with 4 nodes), you would be Stage IB, thanks to the positive nature of being ER+/PR+/HER2- and grade 2.

I had a positive node and was still considered stage 1b so it's possible.
