Occasional petechiae started 6 month after chemo ended
HI. Was diagnosed with TNBC in 3/2018, Stage 1 at initial biopsy, MRI blew it up to Stage 2 (no lymph node involvement). 8 rounds of chemo )4 red devil), 4 Taxol (carboplatin in there somewhere. I don't know. I'm trying to forget). Had complete pathological response to chemo before treatment ended. Due to BRCA1 mutation, had bilateral MX w/ reconstruction and total hysterectomy. About 6 months after chemo I noticed I started getting tiny little red blood dots on various parts of my body -- petechiae. Not often, but still every now and then. Not clusters, just like 1 or 2. Obviously, discussed with my Oncologist and he told me all Labs/ WBC RBC & Platelets are perfect. I do have very sensitive skin and chemo left it even more sensitive and my RA worse. I also have RA (no meds, just mobic and muscle relaxers for pain). If my labs are perfect, why do I keep getting these? I have no bruising, just these little red dots. Sometimes on my face. Sometimes on my lower legs, etc. Does this happen to anyone else? I'm getting concerned now and don't know who to turn to?

Yes, I get this. My platelets were on the low end of normal. They can fluctuate significantly within a few days so I think mine dropped a bit and then had gone up by the time I had labs.

A dermatologist or your rhumy for help?
-
yes I got these as well. They still come and go 4 years later but much less nowadays. My dermatologist was not concerned.

Thank you for your response. It's been almost two years since diagnosis and successful treatment, but I am still struggling emotionally. I appreciate the support.

My onco is not concerned but I will be seeing a derm in a few months for skin check. I will say the chemo left me with more skin discoloration, spots/moles than I ever had before. Thank you for your response. It's been almost two years since diagnosis and successful treatment, but I am still struggling emotionally. I appreciate the support.

Thank you for your response. It's been almost two years since diagnosis and successful treatment, but I am still struggling emotionally. I appreciate the support. I was surprised how these started to appear after I was done with all treatments. I didn't have issues during chemo. But I do visit my onco every 3 months and have discussed my concerns. He tells me all labs are normal, and that sometimes chemo can leave individuals with late effects months after treatment ends. Ugggh, I still can't wrap my head around all of this, but I'm trying.
