Cardiomyopathy and Herceptin

Hi -

This is my first post and I am not sure if this is the right place to post, please let me know if it is not. I am writing on behalf of my mother.

She was recently diagnosed with Triple Positive IDC with lymph node involvement. The problem is that she has cardiomyopathy and her cardiologist has told her to avoid Herceptin completely due to the side effects . I understand that Herceptin is the default treatment for this kind of cancer, I am looking for stories of women who have gone through HER2+ cancer without herceptin

have you tried searching speficially for a "Cardiology Oncologist" near you, they are trained a little different and know more how to protect the heart from Herceptin and other cancer medications.

Seek a second opinion with Cardio Onc, it is well known HER2 patients need Herceptin.
