What was your normal timing for care with IDC?

I'm beginning to think that either my IDC has been caught very early and there is no rush or maybe my cancer care center is just too busy and maybe I should change. I'm wary of doing that because that have a very good reputation. But this is my timeline so far.

12/10 Diagnosed with IDC with 2 masses, both under <1 cm but together they are about 1.7 cm. Suspicious of lymphnode malignancy.

12/31 This is the first appointment they could get me with a breast surgeon..

1/13/2020 Nurse navigator has scheduled me for repeat mammogram/us/ possible repeat biopsy.

Meanwhile, I'm having a hard time at work. I have very stressful job and it is hard for me to concentrate. I'm also very tired all of the time. I suppose that could be because of stress or emotional? I just don't how I will make it going to work everyday for the next few weeks feeling this way and not making any progress on my treatment.

I was also frustrated with the time it took to get things moving when I was diagnosed. The holidays really mess with making appointments due to people being out and folks wanting to get things done on different days. I was diagnosed the first week in November and did not start any treatment until 12/21/2018. I did have several biopsies due to finding a tumor in my lung. I did call the infusion center once I was told it would be chemo only and fuss at one of the chemo nurses. I was scheduled for treatment that week. Looks like you are on track, but do not be afraid of making your wishes known. Being your own advocate is very important in this journey. Best of luck!

For what it's worth, my DX and SX were a month apart. I could have done SX earlier, with a different BS, as mine was on vacay, but chose to wait til mine returned. It is important to have a medical team that you trust. I don't think it is that uncommon to have to wait a few wks, as hard as it is for the patient. I understand the anxiety. Get meds if you are open to and need them. The waiting is brutal...so sorry you have to deal with this. Try to stay busy while you wait. Maybe go for walks, journal, meditate, do some deep-breathing exercises. Best wishes:)

Echoing what the others said, it does seem to take a long time to get things done. It is normal, though, so do what you can to keep yourself busy. You can see that two months passed between my diagnosis and surgery. Normal.

I was dx in Sept, had biopsy and other tests in Oct, lumpectomy in Nov. Starting radiation in Jan. It does seem to take forever. Idk if this time line is usual as it's all new to me. When I was dx I called my primary and got a script for Ativan. Now that months have passed I'm better(HA HA) mentally. Talking here and to other people sure helps

Try to look at it as having time to plan lots of fun things as distractions from both the diagnosis and work stress!
