Painful sub clavicle node -CT scan this weekend

I've had painful lymph nodes under clavicle 7 weeks now. US showed lymph nodes when chest CT last June for persistent cough didn't show them. My doctor ordered CT scan without contrast, even though I have a history of malignancy. Is this correct? I questioned her why no contrast and she said studies have shown it doesn't matter (?

Perhaps contrast is used more for seeing details of an organ?
