Waiting on BRAC testing during holidays....ugh!!!!!
I had my blood taken on Nov 27th for the BRAC testing. So that throws Thanksgiving and now Christmas into the mix. If the lab calendar looks anything like my work PTO calendar over the holidays then I am in trouble. I did really well on the waiting until NOW! Melt down, anxiety, throwing shoes at TV...okay there are a lot of things going on in life other than my breast cancer diagnosis but I AM TIRED OF WAITING! Tips, hints, legal drugs (jk) that can help while waiting? Other than going out for a walk and staying out for hours I don't know what to do....
Happy Holidays to all of you warriors out there that are going through BC. I am so grateful for a community forum like this.

Never mind. I just finished reading posts by people that have a lot more problems than I do. I feel selfish and ignorant. Thinking if everyone on this site tonight and sending love and prayers. 💖

Please do not berate yourself for needing support! Waiting for results is the worst. So stressful. It has been over three weeks since your test. When and how did they say you would get results? Is it time to call and check?
Yes, exercise is good. So is getting lost in a book or movie, especially something funny. Cuddling pets. Nature, going outside. Guided relaxation or imagery recordings. A creative activity that gets you into the flow state where your mind is fully engaged. Or yeah, legal drugs from your doctor. Don’t necessarily ask for drugs, but tell him/her the extent of your anxiety and see what they say.

Thank you ShetlandPony (I had one when I was young named Flicka!)
I did check yesterday with the doctor who answered my inquiry with the results are taking longer than usual as there was a delay with the insurance and they only started running the test last week. I gave blood for it on the 27th of November therefore I set myself up for tests being done by now. I hope that this isn't an indication of the way that insurance will be responding, or not responding, to every test that I take going forward. I think that I am going to have to learn to let go and stop trying to control the situation. I will find a book that isn't about breast cancer and try to get into it. My attention span is so short right now that it is hard to engage in anything other than BC thoughts. But I will try! Thank you for the response!

Hi squatchmama. How are you doing and did you get your genetic test results yet? Mine were negative.
-
Hi! My test was negative too. Hmmm...Both grandmothers had breast cancer and my mom. Obviously genetics is used as a tool to go forward with therapies but also not the Holy grail? I am learning alot on this journey.

squatchmama, did you only have BRCA testing or a full panel, which could be 24 or 30 different genes?
