How long did your biopsy results take?
I'm so irritated right now. I had an ultrasound guided biopsy on a mass in my breast and on an enlarged lymph node done on Monday. I originally was told when my appointment was scheduled that results take 2 to 3 days. Then after my biopsy the doctor told me results would take 3 to 4 days. I called today to check on them and now a nurse is telling me it will be 5 to 7 Days. She said I may hear from them on Friday but it will probably be Monday. I really don't want to go another weekend not knowing. How long did your biopsy results take?

I know waiting is the absolute WORST! I got mine biopsy done on a Friday morning and I got the results back late Thursday afternoon. Hopefully you will hear something before the weekend...
-
that makes me feel better! Hopefully tomorrow or Friday I’ll hear. I got mine done at 8am on Monday and they didn’t have to send it off anywhere. They said they do all their pathology and biopsy reviews etc in the same building so fingers crossed! I have Christmas with my parents and siblings this weekend and would rather know what I’m dealing with even if it is worst case scenario
-
I got my results 2 business days after my biopsies each time.
-
My US biopsy results were about 2 days. My surgery results took longer. I hope you get good information soon and can have a happy weekend with your family.
btw, I noticed you had 2 posts with the same subject line. It's often most helpful to post only once, so anyone who comments can see all of the comments and your response.
Good luck.
-
maybe they will call this evening then! I sure hope so! And I have two posts because I wasn’t sure which category to put it in. Thank you for your replies. I’m starting to get hopeful I’ll hear before the weekend
-
I got my results within 24 hours every time.

Every facility is different. It depends on the staffing and how busy they are, and whether they require a second sign-off before the results are released - I think most do but that can cause a delay at smaller facilities where there is fewer staff. Waiting for results around a holiday period tends to take longer because people take vacation.
I hope you get the results before the weekend, and hopefully the results are good!
-
kBeee that is quick!!
Beesie, I didn’t think about people taking vacations. This is a very big facility so maybe getting a second sign off won’t be too hard
-
hray - Good luck. BTW it works best if you pick one thread keep posting on one thread. It makes it easier to follow since we've already answered on other threads.
-
so just have one thread and post all questions in comments on that thread? I haven’t quite figured out how this all works uet
-
That makes it easier for those responding to follow along.
Once you start treatment there are concurrent chemo or surgery threads you can join for people going through the same things in real time.
-
2 days for me. Biopsy on Tuesday, results on Thursday morning.
-
oh okay that makes sense so for now just stick to one thread
Seems like most people have gotten results in two days. Maybe they will come tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
-
just got results about an hour ago. It’s cancer. Invasive ductal carcinoma. The lymph node was clear though.
-
hray1993, I'm so sorry. I know how hard the waiting is. My biopsy results took 9 long days. The diagnosis just sucks but I was relieved to finally know.
There are so many wonderful people here who support you.
